Every year, tens of thousands of talented high school lacrosse players dream of competing at the collegiate level. But many quickly realize the recruiting process is complicated and overwhelming.
Committed: The Ultimate Guide to Getting Recruited for Women’s College Lacrosse changes that. This book brings together two perspectives: a former Division I athlete and current college coach who understands how recruiting decisions are made—and a parent who was by her daughter’s side going through the process with her step-by-step.
Together, Katie Murphy and Susan Greene have developed a clear, practical roadmap to help athletes and families approach recruiting with strategic smarts.
Katie Murphy brings firsthand experience as both a college lacrosse player and a coach. She competed at the NCAA Division I level at Butler University after captaining her high school lacrosse team for three years and graduating as valedictorian from a class of 500+.
Today, Katie helps guide the next generation of players. She serves as an assistant coach at Marian University, a nationally ranked NAIA program, and coaches high school athletes through Indy United Lacrosse Club.
Katie also serves as assistant coach for the Austrian National Women’s Lacrosse Team, helping prepare the program for international competitions, including qualification for the 2028 Olympics.
In addition to coaching, Katie works as a biomedical manufacturing engineer at Arcamed in Indianapolis. She holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University and a BS in Computer Science from Butler University.
Through her coaching, Katie helps athletes understand what college programs are truly looking for—so they can approach recruiting and their college education with a clear plan and realistic expectations.

Susan Greene brings the perspective of both a dedicated lacrosse parent and an experienced professional writer.
As Katie’s mom, Susan helped her daughter navigate every stage of the recruiting journey—researching colleges, visiting campuses, tracking communications with coaches, and evaluating academic and athletic fit. She saw firsthand how overwhelming the process can be if you don’t have guidance.
Now she and Katie have created the book they wish they had when Katie was going through the recruiting process.
Susan is the founder of Susan Greene Copywriting, where she has spent decades helping businesses communicate effectively. She holds a BS in journalism from Syracuse University and an MBA from New Hampshire College.
